Overview

This job provides timely and effective legal support to the Sr. Lease Negotiator. This includes managing the contract process as well as the drafting of certain legal agreements of several varieties and communicating with landlords related to issues that arise during the term of the lease.  The Legal Assistant must provide effective guidance to the Administrative Assistant related to the managing of our contract database.

Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned as needed, with essential duties and responsibilities including the following:

 

  • Review Delivery Date Agreements received from Lease Administration and prepare such Agreements for execution by the General Counsel.
  •  Manage the contract process related to Onit (contract software).
  •  Work with applicable Property Manager, as needed, to interpret lease language, resolve issues with landlords.
  •  Draft SNDAs and Estoppels on Hibbett’s form, as requested and required to meet the terms of the lease.
  •  Review and edit SNDAs and Estoppels on Landlord’s form to protect Hibbett’s rights under the terms of the Lease.      
  •  Record SNDAs and Memorandum of Leases upon receipt of the fully executed document, to include researching the various requirements of the applicable recording office and track the process to completion.
  •  Completion of the quarterly FIN-47 report.
  •  Work with Senior In-House Counsel to respond to subpoenas, to include gathering the needed information from various departments within the Company and communicating with the requesting attorney related to the specific information required.
  • Work with the applicable Property Manager, as needed, to interpret lease language and to resolve property management issues with landlords.
  •  Write letters and correspondence, as needed, to communicate with landlords when lease related issues arise.
  •  Follow up, as needed, to insure that Hibbett receives fully executed originals of SNDAs and Memorandum of Leases and receives payment of review fees.
  •  Work with the Sr. Lease Negotiator on other lease related issues, as requested.
  •  If needed, provide additional support related to the duties of the Legal Assistant.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
