Overview

The Solutions Analyst I (SA) is a direct report to the Solutions Manager and will work with business partners, IT management, development staff, systems analysts, system administrators and operations staff to apply professional principles, practices and techniques to deliver solutions within scope and cost, based on thorough requirements gathering, work estimation, and quality assurance testing.

 

The SA is chartered with establishing priorities while balancing support and project deliverables. The SA will be hands-on and thoroughly involved in the solution and project delivery, which includes constant review and adherence to plans, budgets, scope, and charters.  It is imperative for this person to have strong communication skills, strong collaboration skills, and a good understanding of standard IT industry practices. 

 

The individual will be forward looking and able to anticipate risks and needs and able to quickly consider impact, and decide how best to utilize departmental resources in a creative, cost effective manner. This involves selecting and recommending mitigation strategies that meet business needs. 

 

The SA is a leader who has a wide range of experience – from project inception to delivery to day-to-day support.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as point of contact for the solution area’s portfolio, resources, and scheduling.
  • Act as a change agent to help facilitate effective deployments/modifications to current practices.
  • Solicit, develop, document and manage requirements and provide detailed design and business rules to support the requirements throughout project life cycle.
  • Collaborate on and review technical specifications developed by internal and external technical groups.
  • Develop and collaborate on system specifications, test plans, and quality assurance test scripts in collaboration with business, IT Solutions and development staff, QA, and technical teams.
  • Support and execution of QA test scripts, as well as management of testing tasks and progress reporting to Solutions and QA.
  • Partner with IT PMO, and business stakeholders to set priorities.
  • Define, develop, and document new and existing functional processes, procedures, system models, and specifications.
  • Report preparation in support of monthly business reviews to communicate status, and priorities to business partners.
  • May present project projections, plans, and updates to senior IT and business leadership.
  • Assist in planning for future business capabilities, identify application gaps and identify when needs are required.
  • Self-manage day-to-day support and project work activities.
  • Support organization’s system change control and configuration management efforts.
  • Position may include other duties as determined by management.
  • Manage daily tasks spanning multiple systems and support areas.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in information technology, business management, or other applicable area of study
  • Problem solving, process definition, and analysis skills
  • 1+ years’ relevant work experience including knowledge of retail business process and systems
